João Pedro Grácio Portuguese Guitar Restoration

Many years ago a man in his 90's honored me with a 66-96 year-old João Pedro Grácio Portuguese guitar. This instrument was almost entirely apart, and for several years remained in safe storage in various countries during my travels. I wanted to feature the guitar in a recent video shoot, so having rebuilt it and a few coats of finish still to follow, I strung it up and shot it at lakes, mountains and above the clouds! Below are some photos and a terribly rough recording of this gem of a guitar!

Offshore Faith

I happened across this little test recording I made while setting up one of my project studios in 2002. This was my private musical retreat situated a safe distance away but still on the same premises as the Cancer hospital my mother and I ran for eighteen years. I laid down the instrumentation with wires coming out of everywhere, tracking the improvised guitar solo in one take while bending about 45 Degrees over the studio workstation. This is as close to "distortion" as any unplugged acoustic guitarist can get ;)
Process: Taylor 510 > AKG C 1000 S > Logic Audio > Nuendo, with Waves TrueVerb on the drums and Timeworks ReverbX on the guitar > sampling and MIDI programming.

Testing a Martin 000x1

Process: Martin 000x1 > Sony PCM-D50 > SAWStudio with Lexicon PCM Native Reverb > iZotope RX Advanced. And finally, at the end the sound of a Red Apple Market truck reversing in the key of D :)
The outcome: Much more guitar than the money!

My Name

It's much easier than it looks!

In case you're wondering, the reason for this post is that Ecuadorians generally struggle to pronounce my name when in fact it's really simple... compared to my last name ;) So to clarify, below is a recording of me pronouncing my name in English and Spanish. By the way, "Earl" is "Conde" in Spanish.
